Four Common Causes of Auto Damage in Darien, Illinois

Auto body damage is not an expense that anyone wants to incur. Despite that, even if you are the most defensive driver, you are still susceptible to auto body damage in Darien, Illinois simply because other drivers may not be as cautious as you. Additionally, mother nature can sometimes play a role in auto body damage.

The threats that our vehicles are susceptible to are not usually considered until serious damage takes place. In order to protect your vehicle from different types of auto body damage, it is best to be aware of the most common causes.

Here are four common causes of auto body damage in Darien, Illinois:

Weather

When it comes to your car, weather may seem harmless. You would be right to assume that cars are designed and manufactured to withstand almost all weather conditions. However, in some extreme cases, weather can cause severe auto body damage.

Hail damage and ice pellets can rain down, creating dents and windshield damage; or, tree branches could fall, scratching the exterior paint. Higher wind speeds can also produce hurling debris, damaging the exterior surface of the car.

Negligence

Many auto body service professionals are of the opinion that certain vehicle damages can be avoided with extra care. It is noted that the most common cause of auto body damage is due to negligence and carelessness.

For example, in crowded parking areas, a driver may swing open their door without care, causing it to bang into the door of the neighboring vehicle. Over time, these dings and paint scratches cause the exterior of the car to look less than ideal. Another example is stranded shopping carts that could roll into the side of the car and create dents.

Low-speed Impacts

Low-speed impacts can result in a lot of different types of body damage. Depending on the nature of the collision, the body of your car may be scratched, dented, or dinged. These minor impacts should not be neglected, as there is a chance that the frame of the vehicle may be damaged even at low speeds.

If you ignore such impacts, there is a chance that the car can run off-balance, which could lead to wear and tear of bearings, the driveshaft, and the suspension system. Following an accident, it is recommended that a trained collision technician checks your vehicle to identify any damage.

High-speed Collisions

A high-speed collision could happen to any of us at any point in time. Whether you were hit by a reckless driver, or you made a mistake, the most important thing is that both parties are safe and uninjured. After the paperwork is done, you are likely to see some significant damage to your vehicle’s body and frame due to the high-speed impact. In many cases you will need to replace body panels, install new windows and straighten the frame of the vehicle.

  1. I never took into account the fact that even low-speed impacts can also cause body damage to the vehicles such as leaving scratches, dents, or dings. I think that is what happened to my sister when she accidentally bumped into a pole while parking in a tight space. So she already needs the help of an auto dent removal professional to get rid of the damage which she was shocked about because the impact was not a lot.
